Our performance of Edward Gregson's "Symphony In Two Movements" on Friday night was delayed until around 10:45pm, but the band handled the set back well and gave a great performance! 4barsrest.com said that our, "...deliberate intent was delivered in spades to close a performance of intellectual rigour and cultured musicality."
Saturday's performance of our own choice piece, Peter Graham's "On Alderley Edge", was a great highlight for many of our bandsmen! Not only did it feature some amazing playing by our soloists on horn, soprano, cornet, and euphonium, but it also showcased the ensemble's musicality as a whole.
Our musical director, Stephen Bulla, told 4barsrest.com, "We are very happy with the result. We continue to work hard and grow as a band despite many of the players having extensive military commitments. This is the best result at the event since our formation in 2008, so it shows how far we have come, especially with our performances of the test piece and 'On Alderley Edge'."
The stress of the weekend certainly did take it's toll on band members from time to time though... but we are recovering well now that we are back home to our families! :p
Thanks to everyone who has supported the BOTP at home and from afar! Can't wait to see you at our next concert!
